My experience making these blouses

This great pattern from 1958 has four loose fitting blouses. I have made View B and View D. I first made view D out of my large scale “factory puffball’ print. I had the design printed on a cotton sateen. The blouse is very easy to make up. I had originally planned on using a facing but decided to finish the blouse with bias binding instead. I think I might have liked the facing better especially around the armholes. My version of the pattern includes facings for this view. These blouses are very boxy. I added front and back fisheye darts and also shaped the side seams. I added an invisible zipper in the left side. Take a look at my walkthrough on making this blouse out of a large scale print. https://youtu.be/Duvj74RFCZo
I also made View B which is a boat neck blouse with a contrast front inset buttoned into the deep v-neck and a hip band. I made it from a fabulous, printed cotton pique from Mood fabrics. Like with the previous view, I added darts, shaped seams and a side zipper. I had planned to add a hip band but I really didn’t like how it hit at my hips, so I decided to leave it off.
This was a very easy pattern to sew up. I do think that that the blouses are way too boxy and that the darts are a necessity. I included instructions on how to add a zipper in my version of the pattern. I have the same skirt in both black and white that each goes perfectly with the blouses. It’s a fun quick make that I highly recommend.
