The "Poppy Scribble" fabric is one of my favorites. It is a border print with orange poppies on a black background. I also have a pastel version of the border print. The first project I made out of this fabric was Vogue 1423. I had the fabric printed on linen from Spoonflower. The fabric was rather stiff but worked well with this pattern. i did line the dress. I decided to bead the front yoke overlay of the dress and cut the piece out of the bottom of the border so that it would pop over the darker under pieces. I like beading over a print and used that technique here. I used rather large beads because I was a bit lazy. The dress was quite complicated to make and the front bodice detail took a while to get right.

I think the entire dress turned out pretty nice. I especially like the way the border print works. One thing I was not happy with was the way the black printed on the linen. It was not as deep as I would like and when I washed a sample, it faded immediately to a wimpy grey. The printing worked better on Spoonflower's Dogwood Demin that I used for my jeans but I'm also careful to wash them in cold water and dry on permanent press, to keep them from fading.

Since I loved the print, I got the idea to make a pair of jeans using a border print. I think they turned out great. I even found a poppy print cotton for the pockets and waistband lining. I also added a band at the hem so that I can cuff the jeans and see the lining. These are one of my favorite pair of jeans!
